The Jiah Khan case has taken a new international twist after the dead actress' mother Rabiya Khan asked the US to intervene and has sought help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to aid in the investigations in the case of her daughter's demise. The US government's legal attaché at its New Delhi embassy and chief of American Citizen Services Unit at the Mumbai consulate Rosemary Macray have forwarded their appeal to the state Home ministry, seeking approval to involve the FBI and provide forensic and technical assistance to the city police in the case. On Monday (January 27), Rabiya and her lawyer Dinesh Tiwari were called to the Consulate office at Bandra-Kurla Complex to inform her that they had sought approval from Home Minister RR Patil. The offer to help came after Rabiya wrote a letter to US Ambassador to India Nancy J Powell last October asking for help, as Jiah was an American passport holder. Confirming the same, Rabiya said, "Once the Indian authorities agree, the FBI will assist in the probe," She added that in a week's time, she would file a petition in the High Court, asking for a fresh probe, saying the police suppressed facts into its probe. Rabiya said that the police had not investigated the case thoroughly. "If Jiah committed suicide, how could the blood in the other room belong to her?" she questioned about the presence of Jiah's blood samples in two different rooms, adding that the police had not explained that in the chargesheet. Another important aspect that the police failed to explain was the injury marks on Jiah's face and neck that were present in the photographs taken by the police, she added. "I want to find out if Jiah was killed by someone and I want the police to investigate this," said Rabiya. Her lawyer Tiwari also claimed that the statements taken by the police of witnesses were completely contrary to their statements in the chargesheet filed by the cops. "The facts have been changed and there are many such reasons why we want the FBI to intervene."

## Navigating the Investment Landscape: When to Seek Expert Guidance

In an increasingly complex financial world, individuals are faced with a critical decision: should they navigate the investment landscape independently, or enlist the expertise of a financial advisor? While the allure of self-management, with its promise of control and potentially lower fees, is undeniable, the value of professional guidance can be significant, particularly in certain circumstances. Determining the optimal path requires careful consideration of individual financial literacy, time commitment, and the complexity of one’s financial goals.

For those new to investing, or those with limited time to dedicate to market research and portfolio management, the benefits of a financial advisor can be substantial. These professionals offer a crucial service: translating complex financial jargon and market trends into actionable strategies tailored to individual needs. They can assist in crafting a comprehensive financial plan, encompassing retirement savings, college funds, and other long-term objectives. Furthermore, advisors can provide valuable insights into asset allocation, diversification, and risk management, crucial elements for building a resilient and well-balanced portfolio.

However, engaging a financial advisor is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Individuals with a strong understanding of financial markets, a disciplined investment approach, and the time to dedicate to ongoing portfolio monitoring may find self-management a viable and even preferable option. The rise of readily available online resources, including sophisticated investment platforms and educational materials, empowers individuals to take control of their financial destinies. Moreover, self-directed investors can potentially avoid the fees associated with professional management, allowing them to retain a larger portion of their investment returns.

The decision hinges on a realistic self-assessment. Do you possess the knowledge to accurately assess risk tolerance and construct a portfolio aligned with your financial goals? Are you comfortable navigating market volatility and making informed investment decisions without emotional bias? Can you dedicate the necessary time to research, monitor, and rebalance your portfolio on a regular basis? If the answer to any of these questions is no, seeking professional guidance may be the more prudent course of action.

Ultimately, the optimal approach to investment management is a personal one. It requires a candid evaluation of one’s financial literacy, time constraints, and comfort level with risk. While the allure of independent control is strong, the value of expert guidance should not be underestimated, particularly in navigating the complexities of modern financial markets. Whether choosing to partner with a financial advisor or embark on a self-directed journey, a well-informed and proactive approach is paramount to achieving long-term financial success. As the saying goes, investing in knowledge pays the best interest.
