New Delhi – Mrs Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor , wife on union minister Shashi Tharoor, has reportedly been found dead at a five-star hotel in Delhi.

Sunanda Pushkar once landed in controversy after she made public an alleged love-affair between Union Minister Shashi Tharoor and Pakistan-based journalist Mehr Tarar.
The wife of Union Minister for Human Resource Shashi Tharoor, Pushkar is no stranger to controversy. From being involved in IPL controversy to getting in altercation with journalists, Pushkar has made news for all the wrong reasons.

Yesterday, the couple issued a statement which said they are happily married and intend to stay that away” after Mrs Tharoor, in a series of tweets, accused a Pakistani journalist of “stalking” her husband.

The Tharoors were married in 2010.

As recently as Thursday, Sunanda Pushkar, accompanied by her husband, lost her temper when she her beloved husband interacting with him and asked him to back off.

“This is why I hate the media… I have thrown liquor at Arnab Goswami. You think I can’t do that to you?” Sunanda Tharoor reportedly screamed at Khaleej Times journalist Muaz Shabandri.

Later, Pushkar defended her action and said that the journalist started interrupting the family, even when he had an interview planned for the next day.

However, she dimissed the charges of throwing liquor as exaggerated.

In April 2010, she had to relinquish a stake in the Kochi IPL team estimated at Rs. 70 crore, when allegations of corruption against her then beau Shashi Tharoor (Union minister at the time) created a furore.

Pushkar hails from Indian state of Kashmir and is the daughter of retired army officer Lt Col PN Dass. Her family was forced migrate to Jammu after militants torched their house in 1990.

She has two brothers, one of whom works for a bank; the other is in the Army. She is a graduate of Government College for Women, Srinagar.

Her first husband was Sanjay Raina, a Kashmiri. After that marriage ended in a divorce. She has a 21-year-old son, Shiv Menon, from her second marriage.

Pushkar, news reports quote, was considered to be a rebel in her earlier years.

She broke the age-old tradition of pandits when she took the first name of her father as her surname albeit with some modification.

Post her first divorce, Sunanda moved to Dubai. She worked as a sales-director in a Dubai-based real estate company Tecom.

In Dubai, Pushkar married for the second time. Her husband was a Kerala businessman Sujith Menon who then died in a road accident in 1997.

Pushkar was in the news for slapping a man at the Thiruvananthapuram airport allegedly because the man misbehaved with her.
