Trial against Jayalalithaa in income tax case to continue: Supreme Court

New Delhi –  In a setback to Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa , the Supreme Court on Thursday cleared the continuation of trial against her for not filing income tax returns for a period of three years in early nineties.

Jayalalithaa is facing trial after a case was filed against her for not filing income tax returns during 1991-1994.

The AIADMK chief had contended that she had no taxable during the said period, hence she had not filed returns.

However, the Supreme Court has refused to discharge her from cases against her.

The apex court also directed the trial court to complete the trail within four months.
