After the death of Nido Taniam, the Delhi High Court took suo moto cognisance of the case and raised doubts on the report filed by the Delhi Police. The Delhi Police say that a final analysis can only be done once they get the full post-mortem report. The High Court, however, has rejected their report and said that if a post-mortem takes 15 days, then other such cases will take even longer.

On Monday, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi met the North-East student protestors at Jantar Mantar and promised speedy justice to Nido Taniam. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal too joined the Dharna on Tuesday and promised to speak to the LG and urge police for action.

Nido Taniam was the son of Arunachal Pradesh Congress legislator who was beaten up by two shopkeepers in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar market. He succumbed to his injuries and died in a hospital.
