Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mohan Kundariya, the party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Rajkot in Gujarat, was caught on camera walking over the backs of school children.

The video, which went viral on the messaging app WhatsApp, was reportedly shot at a yoga camp organised by the Arya Samaj at the Swaminarayan temple in Rajkot last week. In it Kundariya’s supporters are seen waving the tricolour and the BJP’s flag while the BJP leader walks over the students.

Kundariya told CNN-IBN the organisers had “forced” him to walk on the students in order to demonstrate their yoga skills. “I am not an insensitive person and would never hurt anyone physically. The students insisted that they wanted to display their physical and mental strength through yoga. As part of this I was asked to walk over a group,” he said.

Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das took a jibe at the the leader and tweeted: Headed to the gym. Doing shoulders, triceps and walking on children.
