Washington – Yahoo Inc. CEO Marissa Mayer reportedly posted an apology on the company’s Tumblr page about the Yahoo Mail outage, which, according to her affected only 1 percent of the users.

Mayer said that the company experienced a major outage that not only interrupted the connection of users with friends and family, but caused many of them a massive inconvenience.

According to Tech Crunch, the outage began on December 9th, when a hardware outage alerted the engineering team to an issue with storage that served 1 percent of Yahoo’s users.

The CEO further noted that a confusing ‘scheduled maintenance’ error which some users had seen during the emergency was in error.

She further declared that the issue has been resolved and the access had been restored to the affected users.

However, the IMAP access or the complete inbox states of users with folders and ‘star’ statuses hasn’t been restored yet and the company has said that it is working towards fixing the issue.

The report said that Yahoo’s imaging site flickr also suffered an outage for several hours on Friday, while users complained of not being provided timely assistance by the company.
