Washington – Microsoft could possibly bring back the good-old Start Menu option in its next version of Windows OS.

Analysts Mary Jo Foley and Paul Thurrott, who have been predicting changes to the flagship operating system that is powering a major chunk of devices, said that the future Windows version, dubbed `Threshold` would be more tightly locked, and focus on Windows Store apps.

According to Tech Crunch, the speculations about Threshold include a major bounce back of the Start Menu, which was taken off the latest Windows 8 version, in an attempt to give it a tablet-like touch interface that ultimately put off conventional desktop users.

Thurrott said that the Start menu and not just the Start button, which has been restored to the tweaked version Windows 8.1, could come back to Windows and would appear only on those product versions that support the desktop, the report added.
