Saina leads Indian women to Uber Cup quarters

Indian Men Badminton Players Failed To Shine In The Thomas And Uber Cup Finals On Monday But The Women Shuttlers Led By Saina Nehwal Continued Their Good Show And Registered A 4-1 Victory Over Hong Kong To Reach The Last Eight.
In Uber Cup Group Y, India completely outplayed Hong Kong with Saina, PV Sindhu and the doubles pair of Jwala Gutta-Ashwini Ponnappa winning their respective matches.
Saina beat Pui Yin Yip 21-9, 21-10 to give India a 1-0 lead. Gutta-Ponnappa and Sindhu won their matches comfortably to help India grab a winning 3-0 lead.
But for men, it was again a bad day in office in Thomas Cup. The Indian men, who had faced 1-4 defeat against Malaysia on Sunday, went down fighting 2-3 to Korea. Only Captain Parupalli Kashyap and third singles player RMV Gurusaidutt managed to win their matches.
But the first singles player, Kidambi Srikant and the two doubles teams, Sumeeth Reddy-Manu Attri and Akshay Dewalkar-Pranaav Jerry Chopra faced defeat. Kashyap secured 21-17 21-14 win over Lee Dong Keun in the second singles.
The doubles pair of Akshay Dewalkar and Pranaav Jerry Chopra lost 16-21 16-21 to world No. 4 duo of Kim Sa Rang and Kim Ki Jung. Gurusaidutt registered a 24-22 21-13 win over Hwang Jong Soo in the third singles to help India finish with a 2-3 scoreline.
