Johannesburg – McLaren driver Sergio Perez has reportedly announced that he will be parting ways with the British Formula One side from the next season following an unsuccessful season in which his best result was fifth in the Indian Grand Prix.

The Mexican ace, who is likely to be replaced by McLaren’s Danish test driver Kevin Magnussen, has garnered just 35 points in his maiden season with them as compared to teammate Jenson Button’s 60 points.

According to Sport24, Perez, who earned his move to McLaren to replace Button’s fellow former world champion Lewis Hamilton on the back of impressive performances for his former side Sauber, expressed his gratitude to McLaren and said that he would be looking at his future to ensure his position in the best possible package to fight for wins.

Announcing his departure in a letter, which he posted on his Twitter account, Perez further said that he would do his utmost to get the best possible results for McLaren in the remaining two races in America and Brazil.

McLaren is without a win or even a podium position this year and is heading towards its worst season in modern times as the team heads to the United States this weekend, the report added.
