At least 40 people have been killed during clashes between Kurdish fighters and Daesh (ISIS) militants as they battled for control of a key town in northern Syrian, AFP reported.
A monitoring group said that Daesh had launched an offensive aimed at retaking Tal Tamr in Hassakeh province.
The British-based monitoring group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, also said that 11 civilians were killed in a government air strike in Irbin, a Daesh-held town north-east of Damascus.
The group said that an airstrike in the north west of Syria near to the Turkish border killed at least nine fighters from the Nusra Front.
