A nurse, who is posted at Safdarjung hospital and had treated December 16 gangrape victim Nirbhaya was gangraped in Budhlada town of Mansa district of Punjab on Monday.

A case has been registered against four persons under sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. Two of the accused have been arrested by the police.

The two arrested are local residents from Mansa named Lakhwinder Singh and Rajvir Singh. The nurse has, however, refused to undergo medical examination. She would be produced before the magistrate on Wednesday.

According to reports, one of the nurse’s friend, who had fled from her native place, came to Delhi to live with her during the first week of this month. The nurse called up the kin of her friend and asked them to take her back.

“We are taking her to the court of judicial magistrate on Wednesday to record her statement,” Mansa SSP Bhupender Singh Khatra said.
The woman was on a visit to Budhladha to meet her ailing friend. The rape allegedly took place at a railway station when the accused went to drop her on a two-wheeler.

The accused were known to her friend, the police said.

Mansa DSP said the woman was suffering from trauma and unwilling to undergo medical examination.

She is married and has a son.
