SC issues notice to political parties on petition that they be brought under RTI

The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued a notice to political parties on a petition filed demanding all that parties be brought under the Right to Information Act.

“Today the Supreme Court has sent a notice to the Government of India, Election Commission as well as six national parties, in a petition filed by the Society for Democratic Reforms, seeking that all political parties should come under the RTI act and that they should be obliged to be transparent about the information that they have, especially about their funding, expenses and so on,” senior advocate Prashant Bhushan said.
