Medical Entrance Examination

A week after the declaration of the HSC results, the students interested in making a career in Medical field are expected to appear for the Medical Entrance Examinations. These entrance examinations are conducted by the conducting boards or organizations at All India Level or State Level.

The aim of this entrance test is to select the candidates for admission in the different medicine courses available in different medical colleges & hospitals at diploma, degree, post-diploma, postgraduate degree and research level. Generally the entrance examination for admission in the diploma and degree courses is held separately at all India level and state level. If one figures in the merit list of an entrance examination, he/she is placed on a platform from where one can choose a number of career options available in the field of medicine. A candidate willing to take admission in any medical college and hospital of the country can choose to appear for any of the medical entrance examinations.

Eligibility:
A candidate who has cleared his/her 10+2 / equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology is eligible for appearing for the tests.
The contents of the entrance test:
There are two stages for conducting the Entrance Test.

  • Stage-1:Preliminary Examination
    Pattern: It is an objective paper
    Duration: 3 hours
    No. Of questions: It comprises of around 200 multiple choice type questions.
    Subjects covered: Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology
  • Stage-2:Final Examination<
    Pattern: This too is an objective paper
    Duration: 3 hours
    No. Of questions: 200 multiple-choice questions.
    Subjects covered: This too would cover Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology.
Fundamental requirements:
After clearing the Entrance tests, the candidate is called in for counselling, after which the candidate is given admission in a medical school. Following Documents should be brought during the counseling wherein the verification will be done and allotment letter will be issued on the same day. This includes:
  • Admit Card of Examination
  • Rank/Merit Letter
  • Date of Birth Certificate
  • Attested copy of 10th standard mark sheet
  • 10+2 Certificate
  • Caste Certificate (if any)
