Picturesque Waterfalls, Wildlife Sanctuaries all promise a nature retreat for tourists.

Kalhatty Falls - Located about 13 kms on the Ooty-Mysore Kalhatty Ghat Road, these falls offer a visual treat for tourists. The water falls from a height of 100 feet.

Coonoor - It is the second highest hill station in the Nilgiris located at an altitude of 1858 metres. Located at a distance of 19 kms from Ooty, this hill station is situated between Coimbatore and Ooty. The nearest big town is Coimbatore, which is 100 kms away. When in Coonoor do visit the Laws Falls, Dolphin's Nose, Lamb's Rock, Lady Canning's Seat among other places.

Pykara Falls - This is about 19 kms from Ooty. The breathtaking scenery at the falls is a must see in the tourist season. The area is known for its vast expanse of greenery and Sholas and Toda settlements and a diverse wild life.

Masinagudi - At a distance of 35 kms from Ooty, the drive to this quaint little town would take you through some hair-raising moments! The road has 35 hairpin bends. The route was used to move elephants, so you might just catch a wild tusker enroute to Masinagudi. The place is very scenic and offers a lot of location for hiking and trekking. Burn all the calories and then enjoy your favourite cuppa on the wayside coffee and tea shacks.

Mukurti National Park - The Park is located in the south-eastern side of the Nilgiris. It is known for its variety and the similarity of the flora and fauna to the Himalayan species. This is located about 40 kms from Ooty on the Gudalur Road.

Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary - Known for its diverse range of flora and fauna, this wildlife sanctuary borders the Bandipur National Park in Karnataka and the Wyanad Sanctuary in Kerala. Located about 64 kms from Ooty, the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is noted for the tigers which habitat the place. Apart from that elephant, spotted dear, flying squirrel, scaly anteater can all be seen here. Among the birds, peacocks, various species of owls, vultures, woodpeckers can all be seen in this forest.
