Backdrop of the Aravallis has inspired many picnic sites near Delhi

The neighboring state of Haryana has three beautiful lakes. These are great places to make a day trip and enjoy the day amidst the calm, serene environment.

Badkal Lake

An idyllic picnic spot in Faridabad, this natural lake is surrounded by small hills. It offers boating and other recreational facilities for visitors.

Damdama Lake

About 3 hours drive from the city, this picnic area set near the Aravalli range offers a wide range of activities from boating to rock climbing. Enjoy a relaxed time boating or else test your brawn rock climbing on the difficult terrain of the Aravallis.

Sohna

A 3.5 hour drive from Delhi brings you to this beautiful picnic area marked by its lush green outfields and a hot water spring. Sohna also holds the annual Statesman Vintage Car Rally in the month of February. Parasailing is one of the popular adventure sport offered in this area.

Surajkund

This place is known for its Arts & Crafts Mela which is held every year in February. Folk Artists, Artisans from the rest of the country descend on the place showcasing their wares. Apart from that the place is a popular picnic area which can be enjoyed by the entire family.

DhaujDhauj

Nestled amidst the Aravallis, this place is about 40 kms from Delhi on the Delhi-Chattarpur border. The area offers a variety of adventure sports for the thrill seeking crowd. You can test your skills rock climbing, mountain biking, parachuting or else just chill out at the base camp and enjoy the oneness with nature.

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary

At a driving distance of 50 kms from Delhi, this place is known for the number of migratory birds which flock here in November, December every year. The sanctuary is run by the Harayana Tourism Development Corporation and has accommodation options available as well.

Neemrana Fort Palace

Located on the Delhi-Jaipur highway at a distance of 122 kms from Delhi, this is one of India's oldest heritage resorts. The history of the fort goes back to the descendants of Prithviraj Chauhan III who had made the place their capital. Today, tourists can enjoy a wide range of activities from Ayurvedic Rajuvenation, Free Yoga, Meditation, Swimming, Jacuzi etc. while feeling like a king within the portals of this palace hotel.

Mathura, Agra, Jaipur, Vrindavan are all at drivable distance from Delhi and offer ideal places for a weekend getaway.
