Feng Shui

Feng Shui is the art of creating balance and harmony in our surroundings. Over 3,000 years ago, it was developed in China and attributable to its origin, it is also called Chinese Feng Shui. Feng Shui is actually an ancient art and science, besides being a compound body of knowledge. It proclaims different ways that facilitate balance of energies in the environment, so that people inhabiting the place enjoy sound health, wealth and are blessed by good fortune. The term 'Feng' suggests 'wind', whereas 'Shui' suggests 'water'.

The Chinese culture has always given importance to wind and water, which are associated with good harvest and good health. As a result, 'Good Feng Shui' became the theory of livelihood and fortune and 'Bad Feng Shui' suggested destitution and hardship. Anchored in the Taoist vision, Feng Shui is about an understanding of nature and specifically the land that is considered to be alive and full of energy. Earlier the Chinese used to believe that land's energy could create as well as shatter any kingdom.

Taoism gave rise to the theories of yin, yang and the five elements, which later became the basic features of Feng Shui analysis. The Compass and Ba-Gua are the main instruments that are helpful in the study of this harmonizing art. One of the easiest methods to determine the Feng Shui of any given place, Ba-Gua is actually an octagonal map or grid that comprises the symbols of the I Ching - the ancient oracle. Also known as Lo-pan or Luo Pan, the compass is meant for getting augmented information about the place.

It usually has bands of concentric rings, which are set around the magnetic needle. In literal terms, 'Lo' suggest 'everything' while 'pan' means 'bowl'. It can also be understood as the answer to mysteries of the cosmos. Moreover, Feng Shui also presents a range of remedies, to enhance and develop happiness and prosperity in the life of people, whilst resolving ominous situations. In concise terms, Feng Shui is the art of living that is used for enriching both, home and business environments throughout the globe.
