Fairs and Other Events

Summer Festival - Held in the month of May or June over a period of 3 days, the summer festival is a cultural extravaganza. While the rest of the plains in India swelter in the summer heat, Mount Abu's crisp mountain air and picturesque locale offer the perfect backdrop for this festival. Folk dancers and musicians perform at the festivities. A boat race held at Nakki Lake is also a part of the celebrations. The Qawwali night is a much-awaited event and qawwals from different parts of India gather to showcase their talent to the appreciative crowd. The festivities come to an end with a grand display of fireworks.

Gangaur Festival - This festival held in March or April is an important festival with the Garasia tribals, who inhabit the region of Mount Abu. Dedicated to Goddess Gauri, an incarnation of Goddess Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. Married women seek blessings of the goddess for a happy marital life while unmarried girls pray for good husbands. The festivities last for over a month. A colorful procession is taken out this goes from one village to another carrying the image of Gangaur.

Patotsav - The festival marks the anniversary of the idol consecration. This is held at Shri Raghunathji Temple.
