At home fires are caused due to malfunctioning of electrical appliances, careless smoking, children being careless with fire etc. We must take fire safety measures to ensure that there are no accidents at home. • Invest in a good quality fire extinguishers. Train yourself and teach the rest of the members of the family on how to use the fire extinguisher.
• Make provision for a fire exit door in the house, which you can use in case of an emergency.
• A fire burns for longer and spreads faster when there is an uninterrupted supply of oxygen. So, if there is a fire in your house, run outside the house and close all doors and windows. This will cut off the supply of oxygen and the fire will gradually reduce.
• If your clothes catch fire then lie down on the floor and start rolling. This will put the fire out.
• Installing fire sensors or detectors inside the house is a good idea
