Places To See in Shimla
Shimla State Museum (Scandal Point)
The museum flaunts of sculptures, costumes, miniature Pahari paintings, photos, coins, textiles, woodcarvings and jewellery of the area. It was opened in the year 1974.
Tara Devi
Tara Devi is just the finest location for rest and relaxation. Dedicated to the goddess of the stars Tara Devi has a hilltop shrine. The headquarters of the Bharat Scouts and Guides are also there.
Annandale
Located two to four kilometers from the ridge lies a popular location for polo, cricket and picnics.
Indian Institute of Advanced Study (Rashtrapati Niwas)
Rashtrapati Niwas is the former home of the British Viceroy, Lord Dufferin. The Niwas now houses the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (formerly Viceregal Lodge).
Jakhu Hill
Two kilometers from Shimla lies the highest peak in the area. The hill gives a wonderful view of the snow-draped mountains and the town. There is an old temple of Hanuman at the peak.
Kasauli
The well-known Hanuman temple can be reached by foot or car. The temple gives spectacular views of Shimla.
Naldehra
Naldehra is a peaceful parish located 15 kilometers north of Shimla. Renowned for having one of the highest and oldest golf courses in India lies there in Mahunag Mandir. A temple is there in the midst of the golf course.
Chail
Built on three hills, Chail was created as the summer capital by the Maharaja of Patiala.
Mashobra
The site of the annual Sipi fair is located 13 kilometers from Shimla. It is an ideal picnic spot. The closest guesthouse is located three kilometers away in Craignano.
