Places To See In Vaishno-Devi

The Holy Shrine - At the mouth of the tunnel leading to the cave are the symbols of Lord Ganesh, Vakra Tunda, Surya Dev and Chandra Dev. One has to crawl their way into the cave, which is 98 ft. long. When doing that one passes over the torso of Bhairon Nath. The symbol of the Monkey God or Lord Hanuman can also be seen. Beyond this point depicting Lord Hanuman also known as the Launkra Beer, tourists have to cross through water. After the Launkra Beer point, the cave opens out and on the top can be seen the countless heads of Shesh Nag. Below Shesh Nag are the Shankh, Chakra, Gada and a Lotus Flower. On the roof of the cave are the symbols of the five pandavas, who are believed to have built the cave. Also, seen is the Sapt Rishi, udders of the divine cow, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Parvati.

Ban Ganga - On the way to the shrine from Katra is this place, where the goddess in order to quench her thirst shot an arrow into the earth from which water sprang out.

Charan Paduka - Close to Ban Ganga, this is the place where the goddess rested. Imprints of her feet mark the place.

Ardhkanwari Temple - This is the place where the goddess meditated. This place is at a distance of 6 kms from the shrine.

Bhairon Nath Temple - This shrine is visited on return from Vaishno Devi Temple. The shrine is located 2.5 kms from the Bhawan. The return path from the shrine joins the main path a Sanji Chhat.
