Road, Lall Market, New Market are the major shopping areas in Gangtok.

Sikkim is popular for its intricately carved furniture called Choktse and Lepcha weave bags. The Tibetan Thangka paintings are another collectors item. Hand-woven carpets, shawls, blankets made from sheep wool, knitted garments are some of the other items popular with tourists. Bamboo items are another hot favourite among shoppers.
