Traditional handicrafts and other collector's item are available in plenty.

The small town charm of marketplaces makes Sikkim an attractive shopping destination. Tourists looking to pick up souvenirs and gifts and other handicraft items can head to the markets in the capital city of Sikkim, Gangtok. The Old Market, M.G. Road, Lall Market, New Market are the major shopping areas in Gangtok.

Sikkim is popular for its intricately carved furniture called Choktse and Lepcha weave bags. The Tibetan Thangka paintings are another collectors item. Hand-woven carpets, shawls, blankets made from sheep wool, knitted garments are some of the other items popular with tourists. Bamboo items are another hot favourite among shoppers. To take back the essence of the land, buy a carved Dragon Set, in metal set with precious stones. Numerous curio shops line the road adjacent to the Tibet Hotel, these shops trade in jewelry and holy objects. The renowned Sikkim tea is also available for one to take back. Tea is available under the name of Solja and Kangchendzonga.
