Tourism is a burgeoning industry in Sikkim. Thousands of tourists visit this Himalayan Kingdom every year. Hotel and lodging facilities in Sikkim have been built keeping the travellers and their interest in mind.

Sikkim boasts of a few high-end heritage and five star accommodations. The Norkhill Heritage Hotel and the Himalayan Heights Hotel both on Paljor Stadium Road in Gangtok are known for their service and hospitality. Tourists can choose from the Hotel Golden Pagoda, Golden Heights Hotel, Hotel Bayul all located in the heart of the town. Golden Heights is an executive class hotel with room rents upwards of Rs. 1500 a night. Hotel Tashi Tagay, Hotel Mount Simvo in Tadong area of Gangtok are other popular options in the deluxe category. Room tariff starts from Rs. 1000 a night at the Hotel Mount Simvo. Tashi Ghang Hotel in Yuksom is another option in the tourist town.

The decent budget accommodations in Gangtok include the Shilton Lodge, The Himalayan Retreat cum Resort, Mintokling Guest House, Primula Lodge with room rents ranging from an economical Rs. 300-600 per night. A Sikkimese family run, home stay option is the Kewzing Home. This kind of stay option provides the opportunity for one to experience Sikkimese hospitality up, close and personal. The room rent ranges from Rs.450-950 a night.
