Reiki Spiritual Healing

Reiki

Reiki as a healing technique has become popular all over the world. Reiki originated in Japan and from there has spread through out the world. Reiki includes elements from almost all alternative-healing techniques and this is what makes Reiki distinctive from the other healing techniques. In Reiki there is a transfer of energy from the practitioner to the patient, which helps the body's innate ability to heal itself. This healing takes through a balancing of energy. Illness is caused by an imbalance in energy and a practitioner restores the balance of energy. Reiki uses particular techniques for restoring and balancing the natural life force energy inside the body. Reiki is a natural, holistic healing technique that uses a hands-on energy healing method to heal the body, mind and spirit.

Reiki (pronounced as ray-key) in Japanese means universal life energy that is the energy that is all around us. It is derived from two Japanese words 'rei' meaning "free passage" or "transcendental spirit" and 'ki' meaning "vital life force energy" or "universal life energy". Reiki energy helps in deep relaxation, removes energy blockages, removes toxins from the system and brings about energy in the form of healing universal life energy. The practitioner places his hands on different parts of the body while healing through Reiki. Hands are used in spiritual healing as well. But in spiritual healing, a person with a stronger energy field places his hands above the recipient's body and release energy into the recipient's body. The difference in Reiki is that the healer places his hands over the recipient's body, but it is the recipient who draws the energy according to his requirement. In Reiki the recipient plays an active part in the healing process and is not just a passive receiver. The recipient takes responsibility for his healing. It is he who identifies his needs and draws energy to satisfy that need.

There are a few hand positions in Reiki that requires the practitioner to physically touch the patient. But most of the Reiki healing can be done without actually touching the patient. The healer places his hands a few inches above the patient's body and manipulates the energy field from there to heal him.
