Shopping In Andaman-And-Nicobar

Take back corals and items made of seashells as mementoes

Aberdeen Bazaar is the main shopping hub of the Andaman Islands located in Port Blair. The market is a mix of government run emporia's and private stores selling an eclectic range of items. Cottage Industries Emporium, Sagarika Handicrafts Emporium and Khadi Gram Commission have their presence on the island.

Multi coloured corals and seashells can be taken back as souvenirs from the Andaman Islands. The bazaar is stocked with jewellery made from shells, Mother of Pearl Jewellery and items made from palm leaf and coconut fibres including mats, lamp shades etc.

Wooden handicraft items are also popular buy among tourists. Walking sticks, bowls, trays, ashtrays made from the local Padauk wood is very popular. Items made from the bamboo cane are also available in plenty at the market.

Other popular markets, located at a distance of 2-3 kms from the Aberdeen Bazaar are at Delanipur, Junglighat, Goalghar and Prem Nagar.
