How To Get There?

Foreign Nationals traveling to the islands require a permit. These single entry permits allow for a maximum stay of 45 days. The permit allows overnight stay at some of the islands. Indian Nationals do not require a permit to visit the Andaman Islands.

By Air - The capital city of the Andaman Islands, Port Blair is directly connected to Chennai and Kolkata. Indian Airlines, Air Deccan, Jet Airways, SpiceJet offer flights from the Indian mainland to Port Blair. The fares are upwards of Rs.3000 one way.

Foreign Tourist Charter flights are also permitted to land in Port Blair subject to approvals.

By Sea - Ships ferry passengers from Chennai, Kolkata and ishakhapatnam to Port Blair. There are three to four round trips between the islands and Chennai and Kolkata in a month. There is one sailing in a month between Port Blair and Vishakhapatnam. The journey takes about 50-60 hours or about 4 days on the sea. The journey costs between Rs.2500-6000 one way.
